A memorial to Juraj Cimbora

On June 7th, 2009, during a Sunday Holy mass in the St John the Baptist Greek-Catholic Cathedral in Prešov, a memorial to the 90th anniversary of the posthumous birthday of Juraj Cimbora (born June 6th, 1919, died October 1st, 1989); pedagogue, composer and arranger of Rusyn folk songs, the author of a great number of spiritual and liturgical choir pieces, was held. At the moment, the cathedral choir of St John the Baptist, include several of his liturgical compositions in their repertoire and are going to rehearse the complete “Holy Liturgy of St John the Golden Mouthed“, which was composed between 1982 and 1984 and dedicated to the cathedral and its choir.
