On December 10th, 2009, we came across the sixth issue of the prestigious publication WHO’S WHO IN THE SLOVAK REPUBLIC, published in Switzerland this year, where information on lives of some Rusyn personalities in Slovakia can be found. Among them, the name of PhDr. Anna Plišková, PhD., the Head of the Institute of Rusyn Language and Culture at Prešov University, apperared. She is the author of the first dissertation thesis on the Rusyn language in Rusyn which she successfully defended at Comenius University in Bratislava. She is also the author and co-author of numerous books and textbooks in Rusyn. Her latest book, issued in English, is the monograph Language and National Identity: Rusyn South of Carpathians (New York: Columbia University Press, 2009, 230 pages).
