Elections for self-governing regions

November 14th, 2009 is the day of the third election for the bodies of self-governing regions and, to motivate the voters, the local organisation of Prešov “Rusyn Revival in Slovakia (RRS)” has decided to put forward good reasons to make the right decisions. The Prešov self-governing region is a highly important instrument of regional, cultural and social life. Decisions are made by the head of the self-governing region and its representatives. In the words of Michal Kaliňák, the head of the local organisation of RRS in Prešov: “Rusyns living in the self-governing region of Prešov represent a significant ethnic minority, which can substantially influence life in the largest self-governing region in Slovakia. For its 13 districts, we have suggested 13 reasons why voters should come to ballot boxes“.
