Film Premiere of “Osadné” in Snina and Prešov

September 8th and 9th, 2009, were the dates of a premiere of the film “Osadné”, which was awarded the Prize for the Best Documentary Film over 30 Minutes at the 44th year of the International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic. It is a film about the most easterly point of the European Union, the Rusyn village of Osadné, its inhabitants and their views of the political scene. The main protagonists are: Ladislav Mikuláško, the mayor of the village; Peter Soroka, a local Orthodox priest; and Fedor Vico, a Rusyn activist. The film creators, Marko Škop, director, Ján Meliš, cameraman, and František Krähenbiel, editor, went away with the Crystal Globe and 5 thousand American dollars. M. Škop’s film “Iné svety”, which also deals with the life of Rusyns, was awarded the Special Prize and the Readers’ Prize of the daily Právo, in Karlovy Vary in 2006.
The above-mentioned authors and protagonists of the film “Osadné” were also present at its premieres, on September 8th in the Centrum Cinema in Snina and, on September 9th in Cinemax in Prešov. The premieres were presented in front of full auditoriums and the film met with considerable success.
