New Oblation Table in Osadné Blessed

On August 23rd, 2009, a new oblation table in the Orthodox Church of Voznesiňa Hospodňoho in Osadné was blessed by the Most Holy Ján, Archbishop of Prešov. The Holy Blessing took place after the reconstruction of the altar part of the church, which was financed by the congregation. This was inevitable, as the old one was considerably damaged and the oblation table is the most important part of the House of God, since it is where Eucharist is performed and it can only be blessed by the bishop. The ceremony, which took place for the first time in 40 years, was attended by Orthodox clergy and believers from the regions of Snina and Humenné. Those in attendance could listen to a mass of Mitr. Prot. Mgr. Peter Humeník from Humenné, who, in detail, explained the importance of the oblation table, as well as the symbolism of each act of the Holy Blessing. He also reminded the people of Osadné to respect the House of God by visiting it and to also guide their children in this way. At the end of the Archijereic liturgy, sung by the believers in attendance under the conduct of Mgr. Eva Soroková, the cantor, Prot. ThDr. Peter Soroka, the curate of the Osadné parish, thanked Vladyka Ján, as well as the contributors and those in attendance. Before the act of Holy Communion, the participants were also greeted by Archbishop Ján.
