November 6th, 2009 will see the premiere of a play by Karol Horák Buridan’s Donkey directed by Henryk Rozen at the main stage of the professional Rusyn theatre (one of only two in the world). The second premiere will be held on October 11th, 2009. Next year, the theatre will celebrate the 65th anniversary of its foundation. It has mainly earned its fame within the past twenty years, especially by performing plays in Rusyn directed by homeland, but mainly guest, directors. The theatre has not only contributed to the development of Rusyn culture in Slovakia but has also enriched Slovak culture as such. It has become one of the most prominent theatres in Slovakia. The actors in the ensemble are exceptional, which is also proved by the recent prestigious prize DOSKY 2009 (STAGES 2009) awarded to Eugen Lybezňuk.
