On June 19th, 2009 at the regional headquarters of the Slovak Syndicate of Journalists in Košice, a specialist committee met under the direction of Doc. PhDr. Ján Sand, Ph.D. from the Department of Journalism at the Faculty of Arts, Comenius University in Bratislava, to evaluate the works submitted to the 2008 competition for journalists of Eastern Slovakia, which entered its 14th year. It is gratifying that the 2nd place in category D1 (nationally broadcast television channels) was taken by the following authors: Jaroslava Sabolová Sisáková, Ladislav Csiky, Valéria Fürješová, Peter Krajňák Jr., for their National Rusyn Magazine, broadcast on October 14th, 2008 – a “journey“ (lasting almost half an hour) through the civilian and special activities in the regions where Rusyns live.
