On July 2nd, 2009, at a meeting of the Serbian government, a proposal of the Law on ethnic minority committees was approved, which will now be discussed at the meeting of the national parliament. As Svetozár Čiplič, the Minister for civil and ethnic rights pointed out, by approving the law, constitutional rights of national minorities are finally clearly defined and the procedure of constituting national minorities, their competences, finances and property has also been approved.
