Two festivals in Vojvodina

On August 21st and 23rd, 2009, two festivals took place in Vojvodina (Serbia), where a large number of Rusyns live. The first festival of folk orchestras under the name “Melodies of Rusyn Yards“ was held in Šid and was organised by the Cultural-Educational Association of Ďura Kiš and the Association of Rusyns in Novy Sad. At the event, orchestras and their soloists from Novy Orachov, Šid, Ďurďov, Kocúr (Serbia), as well as Petrovce (Croatia) and Kamienka (Slovakia) gave performances. The second festival of folk song, “Let’s Not Forget“, was held two days later in Ďurďov and was prepared by the village together with the local Cultural-Educational Association of Taras Ševčenko. At this festival, singing groups and soloists from Mikloševce and Vukovar (Croatia), Skopje (Macedonia), Ďurďov, Novy Sad, Kula, Subotica, Kocúr and Rusky Kerestur (Serbia) gave performances. The jury liked the male singing group from R. Kerestur the best.
