Young Greek-Catholics meet in Serbia

On July 10th – 11th, 2009, a Greek-Catholic parish in Rusky Kerstur (Vojvodina), which is considered the centre of Rusyns in Serbia, organised a meeting of young Greek-Catholics. It was attended by over a hundred people, not only locals, but also youths from Kocur, Kula and Novy Sad, some arrived from the Eastern Church Apostle Exarchy in Macedonia. Speeches were given on the topic of “World Mentality – Gospel Mentality” by the following priests: Michal Malacko, Darko Rac and Vladislav Varga, each of them followed by a lively discussion. After the first day in Rusky Kerestur, the group moved to Vodica, where they were visited by Bishop Georgij Džudžar, who gave Holy Liturgy in their name. As vladyka pointed out, the aim of such meetings is for the young to get to know each other, gain new spiritual experience, which they will take with them to their parishes at home. After last year’s meeting of youth in Macedonia, this year’s meeting, again, enriched the 30-year tradition of spiritual meetings of Greek-Catholic youth.
